Language Study
Our department houses a variety of language programs—Arabic, Chinese, Classical Greek, Filipino, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese, Latin, Malaysian, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese—and it is the site where undergraduate students can fulfill their College Breadth language requirements.
College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS)
- The requirement in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) is 4 quarters of language study for the B.A. and 3 quarters for the B.S. (see the UCR General Catalogue, p. 67-68).
College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS)
- The requirement in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) is 4 quarters for the B.A. degree (see the General Catalogue p. 74-75).
Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE)
- Students in the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) may chose to use the study of a language, at the 3rd quarter or above, to fulfill part of their humanities College Breadth Requirement (see the General Catalogue, p. 81).
School of Business Administration (SOBA)
- The requirement in the School of Business Administration (SOBA) is 3 quarters (see the General Catalogue, p. 84-85).
